I am a retired data scientist in Melbourne, Florida USA with a Ph.D. from Florida Tech. I specialize in data compression with an interest in AI. I wrote the PAQ and ZPAQ data compression programs while at Ocarina and Dell before retiring in 2014. I maintain the Large Text Compression Benchmark and I am on the Hutter Prize committee, whose purpose is to motivate research in language model evaluation.
